Spectare – to observe, see, watch

The spectrumis the range of differentcolors which is produced when light passesthrough aglass prism or through adropof water. Arainbow showsthe colors within the spectrum. We are able to see our surroundings because light bounces off objects into our eyes. The spectrum does not however include all colors. Light is composed of particles, photons, which all travel at the same speed through space. The three-dimensional image from the world in our heads, composed by our brains, is not a perfect reflection of our reality. With our eyes and mental ability alone, we are unable to perceive the complete nature of our environment. There is a lot more to this world than meets the eye, but for the world our eyes can see, their potential should be maximized to take in every possible contour and shade.
